Linag Shuming’s Thought Of Rural Construction And Inspirations

Liang Shuming is an influential figure in Chinese modern history.He is not only an educator and a thinker,but also a practitioner.He was born in the city,but spent most of his life studying some problems about China’s rural areas.First this paper,based on the existing researches about Liang Shuming and his historical documents of Zouping’s construction,applies the method of literature research and history to analyze the information on Liang Shuming’s Memorial in attempt to reveal that vigorous period of rural construction as best as possible.In this article Liang Shuming’s life-long experience from the old to the new China,from the environment of personal growth to the influence of family,from his academic thought to his ambition and pursuit,and his change of life philosophy,has been briefly reviewed.Secondly by reviewing and summarizing Liang Shuming’s experience about rural construction,this paper analyzes his practical methods,central ideas,and the difficulties and contradictions which he confronted,and reflects on the reasons for the failure of this movement.Liang Shuming’s theory of rural construction can offer profound lessons: the foundation of Chinese traditional culture lies in the countryside;the good construction of new countryside contributes to resolving those issues concerning agriculture,countryside and farmers,thus the vitality of traditional culture can be inspired,the national spirit carried forward,the country’s self-confidence strengthened.To bring about the prosperity in the countryside,the rural people are needed to join in this trend,organize themselves and learn to use technologic skills to improve the production,to foster the rural economy and increase their income.Today the new rural construction has been largely benefitted from Liang’s valuable thoughts and experiments.Staying faithful to the principle of linking theory to practice and to the current national conditions,China needs to cultivate good college students to be responsible village officials in order to push forward the movement,to increase those rural residents’ opportunities to various training in hope for bettering their lives,to develop cooperative economy which meets the need of today,and build the new mode of socialist new civilization by transforming outmoded habit and custom.
