Chinese learning strategy is a universal Chinese learning method that learners use consciously to improve the learning efficiency of Chinese characters.The research on learning strategy of Chinese characters and its influencing factors began sometime in the late 90s of the 20th century,and some achievements have been made so far.However,the researches on the localization of Chinese learning strategies are still rare.As for Chinese teaching in Czech,the Confucius Institute at the University of the Palatine,Czech Republic,is the only Confucius Institute in the Czech Republic.Since its establishment in 2007,it has become one of the major Chinese language promotion and teaching institutions in the region.Combined with the teaching practice in the Confucius Institute in Czech Republic and the visit to many local Chinese teaching institutions and schools in the Czech Republic,the author finds that the teaching of Chinese characters in the Czech Chinese teaching needs further improvement.At the same time,the observation also found that Chinese learners in Czech have different learning effects and efficiency in Chinese learning.Based on the previous studies,this paper mainly focuses on the Chinese students who are undergraduates of Confucius Institutes,and takes observation and questionnaire as the main research methods.Through the survey of the frequency of learning strategy use by Chinese students in Czech,it is found that:(1)The most commonly used strategies of the students in the Czech language are the semantic strategy and the glyph strategy.(2)Stroke strategies,surveillance strategies,review strategies,induction strategies and planning strategries are the next commonly used(3)The most uncommonly used is the application strategy.Through the survey of relevant factors,we find:(1)Chinese learning tasks have the most significant impact on the use of Chinese learning strategies among Czech college students,and the frequency of completion of writing tasks is the most important factor influencing the use of all strategies(2)The recognition and writing level of Chinese characters have important impact on learning strategies(3)Whether have Chinese characters training background and the gender of the students have some influence on the students'learning strategies.The full text totally has six parts.The first part is the background and the significance of the topic,the object of study,the narration of the research methods.The second part is the summary and overview of the related theoretical research,including the second language learning strategy research,Chinese learning strategy Research and study of Chinese characters.The third part is about the specific investigation on the frequency of learning strategies and metacognitive strategies used by students in Czech.The fourth part is about the related factors of using frequency of Chinese characters learning strategies.Part of which is the suggestion of the teaching of Chinese characters in the Confucius Institute in Czech Republic.The sixth part is a summary of the findings and shortcomings of this article.I hope this article can provide useful information for the future Chinses teaching in Czech.
