The constant emergence of Chinese neologisms has aroused more and more scholars'attention.334 Chinese neologisms in 2013 in Language Situation in China:2014 are chosen to be the research subjects to analyze the classifications and formation features of neologisms, and investigate the formation mechanisms of neologisms based on Conceptual Blending Theory. The findings are as follows:1)Chinese neologisms are classified into simplex neologisms and compound neologisms. The majority of neologisms are compound neologisms, among which most are modifier-head and Noun+Noun, which accords with cognitive rules of human being.2)The formation features of simplex neologisms are that pronunciation and meaning borrowing, form and meaning borrowing, meaning increase, meaning extension and meaning designation. The formation features of compound neologisms are that meaning combination, meaning extraction, meaning complementation, feature extraction mapping and meaning innovation.3)The formation of Chinese neologisms can be interpreted by Conceptual Blending Theory.Transliterated borrowed words, acronymic borrowed words, meaning extraction and meaning complementation are mainly interpreted by simplex network.Meaning combination is mainly interpreted by mirror network.Meaning extension and feature extraction mapping are mainly interpreted by single-scope network.Meaning innovation, meaning increase and meaning designation are mainly interpreted by double-scope network. Most neologisms are interpreted by simplex network, which agrees with cognitive rules of human being. It is significant for understanding both the meaning of neologisms and the relationship between language and cognition to explore Chinese neologisms from a conceptual blending perspective.
