Psychopathy commonly is viewed as a personality disorder defined by a cluster of interpersonal, affective, lifestyle, and antisocial traits and behaviors, including grandiosity, egocentricity, deceptiveness, shallow emotions, lack of empathy or remorse, irresponsibility, impulsivity, and a tendency to violate social norms. The recent studies indicate that psychopathy may related to selfdirected violence, particularly suicide. The Interpersonal Theory of Suicide(IPTS)distinguishes the suicidal ideation from suicidal behavior. The studies are aimed at exploring the relationship between psychopathy and suicidal ideation among undergraduate students through the lens of the Interpersonal Theory of Suicide. The study 1 examined the reliability and validity of the Self-Report Psychopathy Scale-Short Form in Chinese undergraduates.A sample of 478 undergraduates were administrated the scale. The criteria were the Short Dark Triad,Inventory of Callous-Unemotional Traits,UPPS Impulsive Behavior Scale and Personality Diagnostic Questionnaire.SPSS 20.0 and Lisrel 8.70 were used to analyze the data. The results showed that the revised scale had good reliablility, construct validity, convergent validity. This indicated that the Self-Report Psychopathy Scale-Short Form-Chinese Version is a reliable and valid instrument, and can be used to measure the level of psychopathy. Then, the relationship between psychopathy and suicidal ideation was explored in study 2 among undergraduate students through the lens of the Interpersonal Theory of Suicide.Self-Report Psychopathy Scale-Short Form-Chinese Version(SRP-SF-CV),Interpersonal Needs Questionnaire-Chinese Version(INQ-CV),and Beck Scale for Suicide Ideation-Chinese Version(SSI-CV)were administrated to550 undergraduate students.SPSS 20.0 and Mplus 7.0 were used to analyze the data. The results showed that the significant differences of psychopathy exist in terms of gender, and men were significantly higher than women. Both thwarted belongingness and perceived burdensomeness partially mediated the relationships between the two components of psychopathy and suicidal ideation. This indicated that the individuals with higher psychopathy trait are inclined to suffer from interpersonal distresses, which make them belongingness thwarted and perceive burdensomeness, and then influence the level of suicide ideation.
