The source text of this report is the chapters two & three of the book named The Sacred Desert: Religion,Literature,Art,and Culture(The Sacred Desert for Short),written by David Jasper, the professor of literature and theology at the University of Glasgow,UK.The Sacred Desert belongs to the category of interdisciplinary academic research, which not only analyzes the aesthetic value in the traditional asceticism of Christianity and the literature & art,but also has rich cultural connotation.During the process of translation, translator uses translation strategies of constructivism which is embodied in three points: Firstly,in order to reflect the technicality and interdisciplinarity of the source text, the translator pays attention to the correlation between language and the external factors of the language system, such as musicology, philosophy and the Buddhism etc..Secondly,translator emphasizes the communicative function of target language.Thirdly, translator focuses on presenting the cultural connotation of source text. The practice report is divided into four chapters. The first chapter is mainly about the introduction of the source text and elaborates the significance of this translation practice in three layers: technicality, interdisciplinarity and cultural communication. The second chapter is mainly about the analysis of the source text,i.e.,technicality and interdisciplinarity, the establishment of translation strategies of constructivism, the preparation of translation tools and formulation of the translation plan. The third chapter is case studies of the translation, which mainly discusses difficulties and problems with examples, including selection of word meaning of common words in biblical context, and the translation of the biblical poems and allusions, words with strong logic and the names of experts in some specific fields and so on.Translators use various strategies such as supplement of annotation and restore of the particular contexts, thus supplementing the readers with relevant background and conveying the cultural connotation accurately. The last chapter is the conclusion of the translation practice, which sums up not only the translation problems and gains, but also the experience or lessons for the study and work of translation in the future.
