Akutagawa Ryunosuke's Literature, Life And Time: A Study From His Letters

Akutagawa Ryunosuke is one of the most important writers in Japan's Taisho Period,he received the enormous reputation in Japan and even world literary world.Except for his fictions and comments,there is a great amount of letters between him and his families or friends.Because of its rich content,it is a great way to study his literature,life and Taisho Period.This dissertation intends to start the discussion from the letters of Akutagawa Ryunosuke,and divided into three parts.The first part discusses the good and evil,rational traits and the concept of art,then study his fictions as a comparison by close reading,and discuss the reasons behind them.The second part discuss the relationship between his life and literature in the themes of love and diseases expresses in his letters,and try to show a multi-faceted image of Akutagawa Ryunosuke.The third part combined the characteristics of ages,study the image of young intellectuals in Taisho Period reflects in his letters,and discusses the time significance of Akutagawa Ryunosuke's death.
