The number of Internet users reached 731 million in China until 12th 2016,and 53.2%of Chinese use Internet,which means that China has entered the national media era.The use of online media not only brings changes in our lifestyle,but also changes the social and cultural environment,thus affecting the individual needs,motivations,and even values.Some researches show that fame has become the main value of adolescent in western countries.This study aims to explore the structure,characteristics,personal factors and social media environment factors of the desire for fame of colleage students in the context of Chinese culture.Following three studies are designed to achieve the goal.The following conclusions can be drawn:(1)The questionnaire of desire for fame of colleage students can be divided into five dimensions which include famous attitude,fame action,celebrity life,social resources and psychological satisfaction.The reliability and validity of the questionnaire are well verified in the colleage students.This questionnaire can be used as an effective tool for future research.(2)The overall level of the desire for fame in colleage students is lower than the theoretical mean,but the scores of psychological satisfactions,social resources,fame action are higher than the theoretical mean.(3)The scores of the male,rural and non-only-child colleage students are significantly higher than the scores of female,city,town and only-child,which mainly reflect in psychological satisfaction and social resource dimensions.The method of questionnaire survey is used in study 2 to explore the impact of personal factors on the desire for fame.Study 2 exams the influence of three individual factors including self-esteem,narcissism and the need to belong for the desire for fame.The conclusions are as follows:(1)Self-esteem cannot significantly predict the desire for fame of colleage students.(2)Implicit narcissism can predict the desire for fame of colleage students.(3)The need to belong is able to predict the desire for fame of colleage students.Multi-group analysis is applied to explore the use of social media in the relationship between the individual factors and the desire for fame.The conclusions are as follows:(1)The time and frequency of using social media cannot effectively predict the desire for fame.(2)The active usage behavior can predict the desire for fame.(3)The activity of social media usage can mediate the relationship between the need to belong and fame,but cannot mediate the relationship between narcissism and fame.
