Research And Practice Of Yun Shouping's Flower-and-Bird Painting Regularity System

Flower and bird paintings during the period of late Ming and early Qing Dynasty presented a freehand style which preferred the expression of ink to heavy colors,as a result,the legible and magnificent colouring tradition appearing early in the Song Dynasty seems to be abandoned by the literati.In this historical background,a kind of adorned and elegant coloring form represented by Yun Shouping has re-evoked the people of the fondness for the color,so that coloring flower and bird paintings became the orthodox school in early Qing Dynasty of flower and bird painting school.Yun Shouping's painting is also called the paintings of the school of Yun.He preferred to describe the flowers with color,those paintings called "flowers with no bone",this painting style is legible but not rigid,whose color is thick and gorgeous with the temperament of literati's paintings.His creation in the application of color,as well as his vivid and natural depiction has had a profound impact on the later coloring forms in painting.His coloring form has been dominated during the late Qing Dynasty.
