Research On Naming Motivation Of Foodstuff In ShuoWen

Exploring the source of words naming is one of the important issues in linguistics and philosophy.Shuowen is the first systematic analysis of Chinese characters and exquisite vernacular dictionary,it contains a large number of food-like words,training and interpretation reflects the Xu Shen's of the rationale for the article on the basis of food-type words to provide a wealth of materials and valuable clues.Based on the relatively verifiable nature of the ancient grain-type words,using the theory of etymology,the article sums up the grain words of Shuowen,makes clear the original meaning of the grain words,and probes into the nomenclature of the grain words in the text by means of the method of the homologous words,and analyzes the types of the nomenclature.Combined with the theory of cognitive linguistics,this paper further reveals the patterns of the motivation,analyze the rule,explain the features of the grain-type words in Shuowen.This paper is divided into five parts:The first part is introduction.It mainly elaborates the basis and the purpose of the article,research content,research value and significance,research methods,and summarizes the actuality of ancient and modern Chinese and foreign research of theoretical basis and food-type nouns.The second part,this paper determines the scope of research,and classifies the food-type words.Select the 69 food-type words in Shuowen as the research object.According to the definition of grain words in Shuowen,they are divided into two major categories: grain crops and the organ structure of grain crops.The third part,to explore the motivation of the food-type words,clearly explain the standards of cognates,both pronunciation and meaning.Comprehensively and systematically explore the naming motivation of the food-type words.By means of homo-logy and semantic analysis,this paper tries to analyze the naming motivation of the food-type words.The fourth part,the naming patterns and naming principle of the food-type words which recorded in shuowen.According to analyze the naming motivation of the food-type words,find that the ancients mainly named the food-type words by means of association,including metaphor and metonymy.The metaphor association accounts for a large proportion,related to image and function,reflect different angle.The morphological characteristics of grain crops are most specific and intuitive,therefore,most of the food-type words of the nomenclature from the appearance of the characteristics.In the specific production and life practices,the ancestors also sensitive to the various characteristics of all types of food crops and plant organs,the naming of function metaphor is also one of the main naming methods for the food crops.At the same time,the ancestors also recognized the relevance of things,using metonymy to name the food category.Finally using the relevant theories of cognitive linguistics summarized the main characteristics of food-type words: experience,intuitive,prominence,national culture.The fifth part is the conclusion.Summarizing the research contents and achievements,and state the deficiency briefly.
