A Comparative Study On The Cultural Meanings Of Chinese And Ukrainian Animal Words

The language of a people reflects its culture.The contrast between Chinese and Ukrainian languages shows the big cultures difference of these two countries.Vocabulary is the main structural component of the language,the difference between languages most of all is reflected in the different vocabularies.Ukraine and China,having a different geographical position,located in Europe and Asia,so the language,historical and cultural backgrounds of these two countries are very different.In Chinese and Ukrainian language vocabulary system,there are a lot of animal words,the difference and similarity of the animal words meanings show the different and common features between the cultures of these two countries.This article is about Chinese and Ukrainian animal words,its basic and figurative meanings,the comparative study of the cultural connotation of Chinese and Ukrainian animal words.On this basis,the analysis in this article shows the reasons of these differences,so it reveals the similarities and differences of the animals' culture between China and Ukraine.Hope this article comparative study on the cultural meanings of Chinese and Ukrainian animal words will help to understand more about two different cultures and provide a certain convenience for the cultural relationship between these two countries,also hope it could provide good examples for teaching Chinese and Ukrainian vocabulary.The article consists of four chapters: the first Chapter is the introduction,reveals the reasons of choosing this topic,the current situation of the animal words studying,the article research methods and thematic meanings.The second Chapter contains the main article information,including the most popular Ukrainian and Chinese animal words,which are divided into domestic animals,wild animals,bird species,mythical animals and the others,five categories of 22 types of animals.It also contains the comparative analysis of the meanings of these animal words.The third Chapter of this article analyzes the differences of two countries,coming from the different natural environment,traditional customs,religion and historical culture four perspectives,reveals the reasons of the meaning differences between Chinese and Ukrainian animal words.The fourth Chapter is the conclusion part,the total summary of the research.
