On The C-E Translation Of Detective Novels From The Perspective Of Skopos Theory

Silent Evidence is the second book of an original suspense novel series called Forensic Physician Qin Ming.The author himself is a forensic physician,and the stories are made up from the real cases he solved.He not only tells readers about forensic work by narrating detective stories in plain language,but also popularizes legal and medical knowledge at the same time.The skopos theory,put forward by German linguist Vermeer,contains three rules:skopos rule,coherence rule,and fidelity rule.This author considers the translation of the novel Silent Evidence as a cultural exchange in a certain social background.The translation should be smooth and faithful to the original text.In addition,cultural factors cannot be ignored.Under the guidance of skopos theory,the thesis strives to meet readers' needs and achieve communicative purposes.This thesis makes a case study of the first chapter of the novel Silent Evidence by analyzing some words,sentences and sections in it,and explores some strategies in translating detective novels.It is hoped that this translation project can provide some useful reference to the translation practice and research of detective novels.
