Research The Massacre Of Chinese People During The Great Kanto Earthquake

An earthquake was magnitude 7.9 struck Kanto of Japan on September 1^st,1923,which led to a catastrophe.In the wake of the earthquake,there was a rumor that lawless Koreans would seize the opportunity to run riot.In order to prevent such riot in advance,the Japanese government promulgated“Martial Law”,guarding and arresting Koreans.However,the innocent Chinese people suffered from massacre.The passage deeply analyzed the reasons of the massacre of Chinese people in Japan,and the influences of“concealing policy”adopted by Japan after the incident revealed in China,mainly through two typical events:“DaDao field event”and“WangXitian event”.Since modern times,China's international status had been falling,and the“Sino-centric sphere of order”had been invaded for several times.While Japan gradually estranged from China,even with despised attitude towards Chinese people.Before the Great Kanto Earthquake,Japanese government and laborers had always objected to Chinese people working in Japan.Therefore Japanese government promulgated several rules to restrict the requirements of Chinese worker's application to work in Japan.For one thing,this is because Chinese laborers would seize the market,which would put stress on employment for Japanese workers.For another,due to poor living condition and bad habits of Chinese workers,Japanese government and people intensified their aversion to Chinese workers.These emotions and attitudes laid a mental foundation for the massacre.The massacre of Chinese people in Japan was acquiesced by Japanese government,taking events“DaDao feild”and“WangXitian”as examples,armies and police forces had participated in both incidents.Meanwhile,Japanese civilians influenced by armies and police forces and guided by the psychology of collectivism,they cruelly slaughtered innocent Chinese laborers without qualms.In addition,after the revealing of the massacre in China,the Japanese government held several meetings,decided to conceal the incident and harbor criminals.In consequence,the criminals during the Great Kanto Earthquake massacre commit has been at large.
