The Inheritance And Development Of Texture Engraving Technique On Italian Jewelry

In recent years,most of the jewelry in the market are produced by current machines and technologies.Jewelry in a less number is purely handmade.Generally to observe the whole jewelry market,the craft skill and the design philosophy of Italian jewelry is one of the most famous examples,especially when we mention the texture engraving technique.This dissertation aims to conduct a study on the texture engraving technique,;to reveal how it can be inherited through hundreds of years;to know the process of this sophisticated craft;to catch the style changes of the techniques on different periods;to realize the significance it will bring to Chinese jewelry;as well as to imagine how the texture engraving craft will develop in China.Some Italian jewelry craftsmen are masters in gold forging technology,besides the texture engraved jewelry are the best representatives of masterpieces.This technique was widely used by goldsmiths during the Renaissance.On the beginning of the 20 th century,the technology was promoted by the founder of Buccellati,who summarized five methods of this craft,which are still being used currently.As time period changed,the style of the technique were also changed: from the Renaissance to the Baroque style period then to the Rococo period;The it went through the Art Nouveau period,and finally reach to today's status which is mixed with diversified styles and ideas.The technology of texture engraving has been developing continuously,and it has brought glory to Italian jewelry.There are the two complements that cannot be achieved without the other:revealing the producing process when observing how design development,and improving design skills after knowing the producing process.While promoting Chinese designer's horizon and creativity by studying from the technology of texture engraving.Chinese jewelry is derived from our own culture deposits and aesthetics.For the goal that receiving more attention on our jewelry in the world stage,we stillneed to learn from better jewelry production technology,combine the design with our beloved Chinese elements,and form our own style jewelry with the most delicate craft finally.In the design of graduation works,the design concept is to use the most traditional decorative patterns in China,such as dragon pattern and phoenix pattern,combined with Italy weave gold carving design works.We will apply the excellent western technology to China's jewelry design,and let the Chinese jewelry industry shine more brilliantly.
