Cultural adaptation originates from cultural differences,which is an inevitable state and process when different cultural groups interact with each other.Chinese nation is a pluralistic variety of nationalities.Nowadays,with the development of economy and society,the communication among ethnic groups becomes more and more frequent.Cultural adaptation in the ethnic groups has caughtlots of attention in our society.Cultural adaptation stress is one of the most important areas in the psychological study of acculturation in the past.It focuses on the psychological experience of individuals in the process of adapting to the new cultural environment and experiencing conflicts of cognition and emotion.Cultural adaptation stressors are psychosocial stressors,which are caused by the direct and continuous contact between different cultural groups and their members.Previous studies have revealed that the main types of stressors are composed of six dimensions,employment prospects,communication,academic studies,personal economy,customs and life experiences.The empirical model and theoretical conception model are basically fitted.In the coping strategies of cultural adaptation stress,the minority students with high level of national identity adopt positive coping styles,while the minority students with lower level of national identity adopt more passive coping styles.According to statistics,The minority population in Sichuan Provincehas reached about 4000000 people,which is the China's second major area of Tibetan population.Since the beginning of June 2009,the implementation of the "9+3free occupation education program" in Sichuan province ensure students from Tibetan areasobtain books,free tuition fees,and other additional subsidies for living expenses,which encourages and attracts the local junior high school graduates to the mainland high vocational school to occupy free education for three years.In this project,the adaptation of the Tibetan students has a high association with their personal physical,mental health and future development,as well as national unity.On the basis of previous studies,this study used questionnaire to exam 234 Tibetan students in a health school in Sichuan province.The culture adaption stressors and coping methods of Tibetan students were investigated.The results of this research show that:1 There are no statistically significant difference in Tibetan students' cultural adaptation stressbetween grade,and there are significant differences in language proficiency level.2There is a positive correlation between the cultural adaptation stress of Tibetan students and the understanding degree of Chinese culture and their ethnic culture,but there is no significant correlation between cultural adaptation stress and personality traits.3 Tibetan students' cultural adaptation stressor mainly from the aspects of life,culture,learning and interpersonal communication.The coping strategies to all aspects of the individual pressure mainly includes both problem orientation and emotional orientation.The orientation of problems mainly include talk,communication,thinking,and the emotional orientation mainly include emotional catharsis.4 The coping methods of culture adaption stress mainly include positive coping and negative coping.Coping strategies are related to the understanding of ethnic culture,the understanding of ethnic culture,the degree of acculturation pressure and the personality of psychoticism.
