The Seeking For Humanistic Values In Chinese Contemporary Art

Although the postmodern deconstructivism has sentenced a 'death' certification to the philosophical ontology,the sublate of ontology from modernist is not to dispel it out of our daily lives and make it an absolute emptiness,but to change the old ways of its existence in the contemporary era.Art that represent human spirit is also like this,it's not gone with the 20th century's 'ending' wave.Since Duchamp and our May 4th Movement.art has been pulled down from the 'altar',but it still exist in another way in the contemporary era carrying people's 'transcendent' dreams.Especially for artists,it's necessary to ask again even if its never once for all.What's more,the deconstruction for'values' of art could be seem as another kind of construction,it contains inevitably the linguistic tyranny and authority seepage of western centrism.So we still could,and should,do the personal archaeological excavation validly in the ruins of 'values'.There are two ways to reveal humanistic values,one is 'the externalization of self values',another is 'the recognition based on other people's values'.That is to say the social values and individual values in the sense of humanity.There are different practical and theoretical traditions and humanistic value resources in art both western and eastern that Chinese contemporary art can refer to.Chinese contemporary art started not logically from the western contemporaneity,but from its own political,economical,and cultural development,and it has a relatively independent developing logic within.In characteristics,it is related to the local culture,it is cultural appealing,critical and reflective about the present social life and politics,and it cares about humanity.This thesis is going to discuss humanistic values of Chinese contemporary art from aspects of cultural appealing,intellectualism,criticism,reflections of people's living state,queries of values,personal life experiencing expressions,internal cultivation and ways of living on the basis of briefly stating the humanistic values in art of both western and eastern traditions,while conclude and analyze its theoretical origins and background with specific cases.In the opinion of this thesis,Chinese contemporary art contains the new individual exploration of values based on the broad ideological resources by creating the visual image.In the experimental facts of human being,it challenges the fixed forms of physical,ethical and psychological being and tries to get rid of confusions that mainstream ideology put upon people,to make them free.On the other hand,art creation serves as a way of living and personal mind cultivation for the creator.It is a product of the artist's spiritual needs and pursuit of personal values.It is also a reflection of how the people who are confused about life sincerely treat his life.On modifying the value expressions,artists become clearer in mind and have a better understanding of reality.As an ideological and value resource,Chinese contemporary art is establishing an spiritual space to make the creational and critical spirit alive,and as a conscious expression of artist's humanistic life feelings,to provide spiritual destination for people.
