Portrait is a special painting subjects in the painting,it comes from real life in the society,like other paintings,portrait is based on the shaping of characters and then convey the an independent type of inner spiritual world.In classical art,artists are focus on the shape of the object characteristics and environment on the psychological impact of objects,it can show by portraits of the instantaneous state of mind.In the middle ages,portraits of eastern and western art reached its heyday,by contemporary portraits influenced by some outside to slow down the speed of progress.The psychological characteristics of contemporary portrait paintings from both internal and external surface characteristics,or from painting has very big change,portraits of some of the functionality has been replaced by photography.But what expressed by the portrait is not simple as “shaw as”,its an expression of personal experience an spiritual lever.Portrait is no longer a simple transfer of the characters face to face,but the pursuit of human nature,beyond the self,in the spiritual world of exploration and creation.In this paper,through compared portraits of the eastern and western artists and comb,analysis the development trend of modern oil painting portraits.
