A Report On A Simulated Interpretation

This is the report about Chinese-English simulated simultaneous interpretation.The author chooses "the keynote speech by President Xi Jinping at the opening ceremony of the Davos Forum in 2017 "as the object of practice,which is based on the theory of Variation Translation Theory.The author compares the first interpretation and the second interpretation under the guidance of Variation Translation Theory in order to explore the guidance of the amplification,omission,adaptation and other strategies in the practice on Chinese to English interpretation,and provides experience and reference for the future work of the interpretation.This can improve the level of interpreting skills,enhance the ability of interpreting application,and broaden the interpreting ideas,so as to further improve the quality of interpretation,better display China's international image,and make China play a more important role in the international arena.The first "International Translation Symposium" was in 1997 held at Beijing Foreign Studies University,at which the idea of "variation translation" was born in an article entitled "Variation Translation and Foreign Information Development Methods Research".In 1999,when applying for the "Ninth Five" social science fund project"translation theory research" Professor Huang Zhonglian directly used the concept of"variation",which was gradually accepted by the translators and the interpreters.Through the research at home and abroad about more than two years,Huang Zhonglian,in 2002,further defined the concept that is interpreter adopted the adaptation methods to take in the translation activities the of the original content according to the specific needs of specific readers under the specific conditions.The Variation Translation Theory is that interpreter according to the specific needs of specific readers under the specific conditions uses adaptation methods,such as the amplification,omission,adaptation and so on,take in the original center content or part of the content of the translation activities.Variation is the core and cornerstone of the translation variation theory,and amplification,omission,adaptation and so on is the adaptation methods,which are interactive and together open the scroll translation variation theory.The practice report consists of five chapters,Chapter One gives a brief introduction to the task description,task nature,and client requirement;Chapter Two comes to discuss in detail the translation process description,covering the brief introduction about task,short-term preparation,the venue and equipment,interpreter's mental and clothing preparation,translation process,and the summary of interpretation.Chapter Three is the introduction of Variation Translation Theory,detailing the background of Variation Translation Theory,as well as the effect of Variation Translation Theory;Chapter Four case study concludes in details the problems of the practice of simulated interpretation,and the analysis under the guidance of amplification,omission,adaptation and other strategies;Chapter Five comes to summary of the simulated interpreting practice.
