A Study Of C-E Simultaneous Interpretation Strategies Of Foreign Affairs From The Perspective Of Translation Variation Theory

Since the 21 st century,with the accelerating process of globalization,the communication between countries has become increasingly close and diplomatic activities have become increasingly frequent.Therefore,a large number of translators,especially interpreters are needed.As a result,many translation theories have flourished.As simultaneous interpretation has the following characteristics: live,timeliness and sensitivity,and it is influenced by the speaker,time and surrounding environment.So the interpreter needs to properly convey the source language information and the speaker's intention.Therefore,it is necessary to have a proper theory to solve the problems in interpreting activities.In this dissertation,Translation Variation Theory refers to a translation activity that the translator adopts a series of flexible methods to absorb the relevant contents of the original text according to the special needs of specific readers under the specific conditions.At present,most of the relevant researches on Translation Variation Theory are applied in the field of translation.But due to the similarity between translation and interpretation,there are few researches in the field of interpretation.So,it provides many possibilities for Translation Variation Theory to deal with the issues in the interpretation.This dissertation takes President Xi's “Opening Ceremony of The Firstand The Second Belt and Road Forums for International Cooperation Speeches” as materials and studies Chinese-English simultaneous interpretation strategies of foreign affairs based on Translation Variation Theory.Through the analysis of examples,the dissertation discusses how to use edited translation,explanatory translation and condensed translation based on Translation Variation Theory in the translation of long sentences,allusions and cultural words.And it further elaborates the issues of combining similar meanings,adding subjects and conjunctions,adjusting word order in translating long sentences,supplementing and explaining in translating allusions as well as condensing in translating cultural words.The study found that the Translation Variation Theory can provide theoretical support for Chinese-English simultaneous interpretation of foreign affairs,and thus it enlarges the scope of application of Translation Variation Theory.At the same time,edited translation,explanatory translation and condensed translation also provide effective help for interpreters to properly convey the source language information and the speaker's intention in the practice of simultaneous interpretation of foreign affairs.
