The preview effect refers to the phenomenon that the object is divided into two parts in the visual search process,and the second part of the objects will be preferentially selected because of the first part of the objects being "previewed".The presence of preview effects,such as letters or geometric patterns,has been found in the study of many visual materials.Similarly,this phenomenon of visual preference has also been found in the visual search of emotional faces.There are many studies that use schematic faces as visual materials.however.the real emotional faces are seldom used in preview effect study,also there are obvious flaws in the experimental design and research methods in the research of the preview effect of the real emotional faces.The past research on preview effects cares more about exploring the differences between different theories.Few studies have systematically explored the factors that may affect the preview effect.In view of the above issues,this study uses real emotional faces as preview materials and to systematically explores three factors that may affect the preview effect through three experiments.Experiment 1 conducted a study of the effect of the total number of items on the preview effect,and found that there was still a clear preview effect in the preview search of real emotional faces;and also found that within a certain number of object ranges(6-14 objects),the increase of items will lead to the increase of response time,interestingly,the preview effect will not change drastically due to the increase of objects;in addition,positive emotion face recognition effectively has also emerged,this is called positive superiority effect.Experiment 2 conducted a study of the effect of preview duration on the preview effect.It was found that on the condition of PD-500ms,a preview effect can still be found,and the study also found that the search became more efficiency as time increases,when the preview duration reaches 1000ms,the search efficiency tends to stable;the positive superiority effect has also emerged in the experiment 2.In Experiment 3,the effect of the valence of emotional faces and combinations on the preview effect was studied.It was found that under the experimental conditions with targets,neutral + positive emotional faces as irrelevant sets only showed partial preview effects;in the targetless experiment conditions,only a partial preview effect is present in the condition of the irrelevant sets both are positive faces or neutral + positive emotional faces,and the other four types emotional face has a complete preview effect,indicating that the preview effect may not only be caused by inhibiting the position of irrelevant sets,but also may be based on the inhibition of the object content or meaning.When the object content is different,and the different preview effect will be.
