A Study On Music Analysis And Playing Skill Of MacDowell Piano Suite "Hai"

Edward Alexander Macdowell was the first American musician to succeed in the international music industry.He has made great achievements in the fields of composition,performance and education.His musical style is also unique,which plays a very good role in promoting American professional music.He integrated Native Indian music into American professional music creation,established the American national music school,made great contributions to the early music development,and later made music for Ives,Gershwin,and Copeland.This thesis analyzes the piano sketch of The Sea from the perspectives of McDowell's creative background,music image and performance skills.Therefore,the performer can understand the work more deeply in theory and interpret the composer's musical connotation better.This thesis is divided into three chapters,the first chapter briefly outlines the MacDowell creation environment and the background of the times;The second chapter analyzes each of the sketches into its musical image and musical forms;the third chapter studies the performance of this divertimento from the music,pedal and other aspects,and analyzes the music from the Sea's background in order to understand the common rhythmic and composing techniques of composers combined with the characteristics of piano performance.This thesis makes a systematic analysis of the works ' modulation,musical form and harmony,find the difference,and analyzes the creative features,performance style,speed change,melody part transformation,expression terminology and techniques of MacDowell piano works.
