This report is based on the translation of How Your Cat Is Making You Crazy published in the magazine The Atlantic Monthly.The source text is written by Kathleen McAuliffe,an American.The source text talks about those experiments and studies made by Jaroslav Flegr,a Czech biologist,on parasite,a certain kind of protozoan.With all sorts of statistics and explanation of many experiments,it explains Flegr and other scientists' studies which prove that parasites can have a significant impact on the operation of human brains.This report is divided into 4 chapters.Chapter 1 briefly introduces the background,significance and structure of the project.Chapter 2 mainly analyzes the source text,briefly introduces the original author,summarizes the main content of the original text,and analyzes the linguistic features of the source text.Drawing on Fillmore's Frame Theory,Chapter 3 gives an account of the translation theory used by the translator and the difficulties encountered and the solutions adopted.The last chapter summarizes the translator's gains and shortcomings in the translation process.
