Study On Wei-jin And Southern-northern Dynasties’ Philosophical Works Of Catalogue Of The Four Branches Of Literature

Since the publication of the Catalogue of the Four Branches of Literature(hereinafter referred to as the Catalogue)for more than two hundred years now,a large number of monographs and articles have conducted an in-depth study.However,Objectively speaking,researches on the philosophical branch(Zi Bu,子部)are relatively insufficient,and the present situation is worse when it comes to the Wei-Jin and Southern-Northern Dynasties’philosophical works,and even no relevant thematic studies have been published as so far.Therefore this paper attempts to summarize editors’attitude and comments on the academic achivement of the Wei-Jin and Southern-Northern Dynasties by dialectically analyzing the omissions and errors existing in the Catalogue,and further evaluate its value and influence.This article consists of five parts.Introduction,the research status of this project.This part mainly focuses on the literature review.Chapter 1,overview of philosophical branch.The evaluation of peirod Wei-Jin’s philosophical works is based on the whole cognition of philosophical branch,and it is different from the particularity of books in other periods.Chapter 2,clarification on the Catalogue.An investigation has indicated that there are 66 philosophical works of the Wei-Jin and Southern-Northern Dynasties in the Catalogue,within which 47 works exist errors involving authors’ biographies,works’ versions and quotations.Chapter 3,research on the acdemic comments of the Catalogue.The Catalogue contains the embody criteria and evaluation of the works,including the official constraintion as well as the academic pursuit,which influence the editors’ judgments on their academic value.Chapter 4,analysis of three documentary aspects: value of bibliography,value of collecting lost,study on works’ sources.This chapter summarizes the significance and infulence of the Catalogue and analyzes the mismatch between works’ sources.
