A Cognitive Study Of "A (ye) Jiu Suanle,Juran Hai B" Based On BIS Model

With the increasing universality,popularity and accessibility,the cyber language has always been a hot topic for linguists.However,as a new construction in contemporary Chinese,no scholar has studied “A(ye)jiu suanle,juran hai B” yet.This thesis has applied the conceptual blending theory,construction grammar,and cognitive sociolinguistics to establish the Blending,Inheritance and Social Background-based Model(BIS Model),with both quantative and qualitative methodology to study “A(ye)jiu suanle,juran hai B” construction.We have found that “A(ye)jiu suanle,juran hai B” construction,whose construction meaning is that the speaker shows his/her opinions on a social phenomenon,which makes the speaker have the feeling of shock,resentment,or jealousy.At present,few researchers have made analysis on suanle and juran,while all these analysis mainly focused on the vocabulary,discourse,semantic and pragmatic features.In contemporary Chinese,“A(ye)jiu suanle,juran hai B” frequently appears in major mass media,which gradually became a popular cyber language and is a typical construction in contemporary Chinese.The 236 items of “A(ye)jiu suanle,juran hai B” construction have been collected and formed a corpus,which has been classified into classes according to their parts of speech,and have analyzed its syntactic,semantic,and pragmatic features under the frame work of Blending,Inheritance and Social Background-based Model.Finally the analysis of the mechanism and motivation of the construction have been illustrated.And we have found that the syntactic features of this construction is that A and B can be served by nouns,noun phrases,verbs,verb phrases,adjectives,adverbs,or clauses.Its semantic characteristic is that this construction expresses positive or negative emotional meanings.And its pragmatic feature is that it is commonly used in the cyber language,with strong subjectivity.However,when we analyzed A(ye)jiu suanle construction,whose construction meaning is that the speaker doesn't care about something happened.And the construction meaning of juran hai B is that it is unbelievable that the B event happens,which is unexpected.The construction meaning of “A(ye)jiu suanle,juran hai B” has richer meaning than A(ye)jiu suanle and juran hai B constructions.We have found that under cognitive linguistics,the conceptual blending theory,inheritance and social background-based model we established has a strong explanation on “A(ye)jiu suanle,juran hai B”construction,meanwhile,BIS Model also developed the relevant theories of conceptual blending theory and construction grammar.
