The source text of this translation report is drawn from The New Gold Rush,a book published in 2016 by Josephon.N.Pelton.According to Newmark's text typology theory,it mainly belongs to the informative text. The difficulties met in during the translating process are mainly reflected in abstract words, adverbs, hedges and long and complicated sentences, the passive voice sentences and there-be structure. The source language is objective and concise.Newmark's correlative approach to translation can be applied here, with which the translator stresses the effect on the target audience, and solves their problems in communication by breaking down the limits of the language form of the source text, thus making the target text faithful and fluent. The translation report consists of five chapters.First, the author gives an overall description of the translation project, including its background and significance. The second chapter serves as an introduction to the author and the main content of the source text, together with the analysis of it.In the third chapter, the author introduces Newmark's correlative approach to translation which is used in this report and analyzes with examples how this theory is applied in the translation project. The fourth chapter analyzes the characteristics of words and sentences as well as the translation difficulties in this project from the perceptive of correlative approach to translation, such as the translation of some abstract words, adverbs and attributive clauses. The last chapter is the conclusion including the enlightenments and the problems to be solved.
