Elaborate Characteristics And Expression Of Accompaniment In Opera And Art Songs

Opera and art song are two different genres of vocal music works,whose characteristics are prominently distinct from each other,and they also have different modes of expression under the piano accompaniment.The origin of the development of art songs can date back to 200 years ago and the opera even more than 400 years ago.More and more composers devote themselves into creating to complete more and better operas and art songs that can reflect their own affections and beauty-appreciation.Schubert and Verdi are the pioneers among them.They have a great number of works,fully reflecting the social background at that time,and they are highly philosophical and speculative.Focusing on the creation of piano accompaniment and research skills,this study has a great practical significance,allowing performers and singers to have a better understanding of songs and interpret the rich emotions embodied in the songs and operas better,which can cultivate a good resonance between the performer and the singer.This paper elaborates the distinct characteristics of piano accompaniment in operas and art songs,including differences in song structure,differences in contents and emotions,differences in accompaniment textures,etc.Meanwhile,it elaborates and compares the different modes of expressions of accompaniment in operas and art songs,including the modes of expression of characters,historical backgrounds,the strength and speed of playing.These dimensions of study mentioned above are elaborated by taking Verdi's "Force of Destiny",aria "The Peace,Peace" and Schubert's art song "The Devil" as examples with a spectrum display.Besides,combining my authentic experience of playing accompaniment,the approaches of playing the two different vocal music genres and the different understandings towards them are analyzed.
