The Translation Of Vague Expressions In Legal Text

The thesis tries to find unique translation rules of vague expressions in legal text.There have been numerous scholars pointing out that accurate expressions in legal text are key points,but vague expressions can't be ignored for its irreplaceable status in law.In addition,different scholars hold different views on the translation rules of vague expressions,so it is vital to generalize them and work out the unique rules through Nord's translation-oriented text analysis and case studies.In the research,some research methods are adopted such as Concept analysis,Documentary study,Case-study methods,Comparative methods and Induction.The main body of the thesis includes five chapters.In Chapter 1,an simple introduction of the subject and its related background information are given.In Chapter 2,previous studies are provided.In Chapter 3,detailed information of vague expressions,the legal text,and the vague expressions in legal text are presented.In Chapter 4,the unique translation rules,such as translation strategies,methods and techniques of vague expressions in legal text are found out through theory and case studies step by step.In this Chapter,much attention is paid to case studies which is the key point of the thesis.In Chapter 5,the author summarizes all the researches and gives us clear translation rules which are suitable for vague expressions in legal text.
