| The study of perceptual global-local processing usually requires participants to respond directly to the target letters at the global or local level of the compound stimuli, which are task relevant and attended. It has differences in the responsiveness and accuracy of the global-local processing between different cultural backgrounds. Therefore,it is concluded that different ethnic groups also have different processing to the global-local part. There have been many researches on the attention preference, the domain of cognitive processing and the existence and occurrence mechanism of inhibitory control, there are also cross-cultural aspects, but there are few contrastive studies in the national field, global and local perception usually require subjects to respond to targets at the global or local level of compound stimuli, which are task relevant and attended. The current study,by conducting a three-factor experiment, investigated how global-local processing differ from each other when compound stimuli are unattended by examining the priming effect produced by global or local information of compound letters on responses to the following targets.Mongolian and han college students were tested to explore their inhibition under the global-local processing differences. This study is divided into three parts. It discusses the ways in which mother tongue and mother tongue language priming, and compares the differences in inhibition abilities between Mongolian and Han students. The same national undergraduates compare of their inhibition abilities under different language priming conditions and comparing the inhibition ability of different national undergraduates under the same cultural priming situation. In the first study, students from Mongolian and Han nationality colleges were used as subjects to conduct experiments and discuss their inhibition abilities in their respective languages. The experiment adopted 2 nation(Mongolian/Han)× 2 processing level(global level/local level)× 2 reaction type(control group/ignore repeat group)three-factor mixed experimental design. The results show that Mongolian and Han college students all have the preference to inhibit the global letters, but the inhibitory ability of Mongolian college students to restrain the global letters is significantly stronger than that of Han college students. In the second study, the same experimental paradigm as study one was used.Participants selected Mongolian undergraduates to investigate the Mongolian college students’ inhibition under Mongolian and Chinese language priming conditions: The experiment was conducted in 2 languages(Mongolian/Chinese)× 2 processing level(global level/local level)× 2 response type(control group/neglect repeat group)three-factor mixed experimental design. The results of the study indicate that there is no difference in Mongolian college students’ inhibitory ability after the switch between their mother tongue and the second language system. In the third study, the same experimental paradigm as those of the first and second studies is still used. The difference from the above studies is that a comparative study on the inhibitory ability of Mongolian and Han university students under the priming condition of a single language situation:2 nation(Mongolian / Han)× 2 processing level(global level / local level)× 2 response type(control group / ignore repeat group)three-factor mixed experimental design. The results of the study show that Mongolian and Han undergraduates have different inhibition abilities under the Chinese situation.According to the quantity of inhibition,it is judged that the inhibition of Mongolians is better than that of Han undergraduates.Conclusions:(1)Mongolian undergraduates and Han undergraduates all had a negative priming effect under the condition of a native language priming. The Mongolian undergraduates had an global preference but the Han did not. Both Mongolian and Han college students have a preference for inhibiting the global letters, but Mongolian college students have significantly greater inhibition of the global letters than the Han college students.(2)For the Mongolian undergraduates who are the bilinguals, during the use of Mongolian and Han languages,Mongolian college students’ inhibitory ability in two language situations did not change due to language changes.(3)Under the context of the same language priming situation, the Mongolian and Han college students showed the difference in inhibition ability. |
