| Standardized and accurate English translations in Chinese scenic spots can help carry forward splendid Chinese culture and promote its international communication.However,plenty of translations in tourist attractions are inaccurate or not standard.As found by the author of this paper,mistakes in translations in the tourist attractions in Henan Province are particularly common,ranging from minor spelling mistakes to serious mistranslations,which not only bring understanding problems to foreign tourists,but also have bad influences on the image of the tourist attractions.So far,some domestic scholars have studied tourism translation texts,but they have not combined relevant theories to form a complete research system and thus have not provided comprehensive guidance for English translation in tourist attractions.Based on the Skopos theory,this paper analyzes the translation examples in some scenic spots in Henan Province and puts forward some strategies of Chinese-English translations.Hopefully,it may help improve the present situation of unreasonable English translations in tourist attractions in Henan.The paper is divided into six parts: the first part gives a brief introduction to the research background,methods of the dissertation and research significance.The second part mainly introduces the status quo of domestic and abroad research in tourism translations.The third part puts forward guidance on tourism translations combining the content of Skopos theory.Part four and five compose the body part of the paper,which analyzes tourism translations from the perspectives of examples of translations,and then put forward translation methods and techniques such as amplification and simplification,literal translation and free translation,conversion,negation,reorganization and liberal translation.The sixth part is the conclusion.The author summarizes the research results and points out the deficiencies and future directions of the paper. |
