The Comparative Study On The Political Ethics Of Mencius And Xunzi

The thought of political ethics possesses a very distinct position in the history of Chinese philosophy.The political-ethics thought,related to the national ideology and every side of social life,has been playing a crucial role in a nation's international relations and country administration.The main stream of Chinese traditional philosophy is Confucian political ethics,in which Men cius' s and Xunzi's contributions are most representative.Mencius and Xunzi are both the successor and grower of Confucianism,and they reach consensus on a political objective that helps the King to put the country back on track under the guidance of Confu cian ideas.But under the influence of various factors,they still have differences with regard to some specific issues.In this paper,using the comparison of Mencius' s and Xunzi's political ethics thought as the research object,from the formation of Mencius' s and Xunzi's political ethics thought different era background and origin,the same shicheng of Mencius and Xunzi is analyzed by the theory basis of the formation of political ethics thought."The theory of human nature" and "the view of man and nature" are the theoretical bases of their respective political and ethical thoughts.Due to complex factors such as environment and education,they formed their respective political ethics.The similarities and differences are sorted out from the political a nd ethical thoughts of the two.All roads lead to the same destination.They all hope to change the turbulent social situation through their own doctrines,assist the monarch in governing the country and bring the people a happy and healthy life.
