The Multi-functionality Study Of "Ke" In The Cross-dialect Perspective

"Ke" is an extremely active multi-functional word in modern Chinese.It is used frequently in both Mandarin and dialects,which is rich in meaning and complicated in usage.This paper takes modern Chinese "Ke" as the research object.In the field of both Mandarin and dialect,with the integrated use of linguistics theory such as "three linguistic aspects" analysis of the structural linguistics,cross-dialect comparison method of contrastive linguistics,categorization theory and conceptual metaphor and metonymy theory of cognitive linguistics theory,the article described the meaning and usage of "Ke" in modern Chinese systematically.The meanings and usages of "Ke" in Mandarin and dialects are described and investigated in detail.Through the multi-functional investigation of "Ke",it reveals the differences and connection between mandarin and dialect,dialect and dialect in meanings and usages.This paper includes the three parts of the introduction,text and conclusion.The first part is the introduction.It introduces the basis and significance of selecting "Ke" for synchronic research,expounds the history and current situation of "Ke",explains the research methods and source of corpus,and points out the innovation of this paper.The second part is the text,which investigates the multi-functionality of "Ke".There are three chapters in this part: The first chapter examines the meaning and usage of "Ke" in Mandarin in detail according to the part of speech of "Ke".It shows that "Ke" is a complex multi-functional word in Mandarin.It can be mainly used as verbal verbs,auxiliary verbs,and mood adverbs,transitional conjunctions and morphemes,which contain twelve different meanings.Then it explains the relationship between the original meaning of "Ke" —the verbal verb of "consent,permit" and its other semantics.Finally,the correspondence between its grammatical nature and semantic content is summarized.In the second chapter,the four dialect regions of the Northeast-Northern Mandarin,Central Plains Mandarin,Jianghuai Mandarin and Jin Dialect are selected from the northern dialect,which has high frequency of use,to examine the usage of the dialect of "Ke".It mainly introduces special usages that are not included in Mandarin.It can be seen that "Ke" has six special usages of verbal verb,the adjective,the adverb,the auxiliary,the modal particle and the interjection.What's more,it has nearly twenty different meanings in dialects.The third chapter studies the synchronic multi-functionality of "Ke".According to the two "Trigonometry" research ideas of Mr.Xing fuyi,the multi-functionality of "Ke" is studied in cross-dialects.Through the comparison of Mandarin and dialect and the comparison between dialect and dialect,the differences and connections between its various usages and meanings are discovered.Finally,we give the cognitive-semantic interpretation of its multi-functionality.It mainly uses the metaphor and metonymy mechanism of cognitive linguistics and the context absorption mechanism of modern pragmatics to give the explanation.The last part is the conclusion,which summarizes the main conclusions of the paper.This part summarizes the different meanings and usages of "Ke" in Mandarin and dialects,sum up the cognitive-pragmatic mechanisms of the connections between different meanings or usages.
