The development of information technology has reached its maturity in the early 21 st century. The combination of information technology with arts and design can not only improve productivity, but also bring infinite possibilities. However, the strategies implemented to advance the development of information technology and creative practices were the challenge addressed by this report. The source text of this translation report is an excerpt(chapters 2 and 3)from Beyond Productivity: Information Technology,Innovation and Creativity. These two chapters mainly discuss information technology from the perspective of design, application and art.The source text falls into informative text, and a great deal of parentheses were used in order to keep the information complete or balance the structure of a sentence.Parentheses disrupt the continuity of a sentence, which makes it difficult for the author to understand and translate the sentence contains parenthesis(parentheses).According to the function of parenthesis, the author classifies the parentheses in this text into two categories, namely, notional parenthesis and modifying parenthesis. The author tries to analyze the translation of these two categories in detail in the third chapter of this report.Brackets are frequently used in this translation report. For those relatively long parenthesis, the author rearrange the structure of the sentences in order to make sense. It is desired that through the analyses of the parentheses, some valuable suggestions can be provided to translators in doing the same kind of translation.
