Translation Of Parentheses In E-C Translation

Global warming is now a problem we are currently facing,and more and more regions and countries will become affected as it grows more and more serious.Therefore,it is urgent to awaken people's sense of danger and responsibilities.This translation report is based on the author's translation of part one of Windfall--the Booming Business of Global Warming.The writing perspective of this book is quite innovative by describing the commercial fights over power and wealth induced by global warming.This book belongs to the category of economic texts,in which information is compact,and sentences have complicated structures,sentences with parentheses in particular.A variety of parentheses have posed some difficulties in comprehension and translation to the author.According to the functions of parentheses in the source text,the author classified them into modifying parenthesis and notional parenthesis,and conducted detailed analyses on them in the third chapter of this report.It is hoped that through the writing of this report,some valuable experiences can be summarized and be passed onto people doing similar work.It is also expected that this report can shed some light on other similar translation activities.It is the sincere wish that more and more people can realize the seriousness of global warming.
