Translation Strategies Of Metaphor And Nominal Structure In The Text Of Science And Technology

This report is based on the translation of Disruptive Possibilities: How Big Data Changes Everything(Chapter 1-3)which belongs to the category of computer science.The features of this kind of text are strong professionalism,frequently used nominal structure and expressions of metaphorical meanings.It is an information-based text on the whole,which mainly focuses on the transmission of information.The accuracy,objectivity,readability and continuity of information transmission are highly appreciated.This report will focus on two typical problems encountered in this translation practice: The first is the translation of metaphorical rhetoric,the author will analyze from the perspective of rhetorical image,respectively adopt three translation strategies of image reconstruction,image transformation and image rejection.The second is the translation of nominal structure,which focuses on the analysis of the nominal structure with multiple modificatory components and the nominal structure derived from verbs and adjectives.In combination with the context,the author comprehensively makes use of translation strategies of reduction,conversion and resolution to deal with this type of problem.This report is intended to provide reference for translators who are engaged in such texts.
