The Status And Influencing Factors Of The Age At First Marriage Of The People Born In The 1980s

Using data from Chinese General Social Survey(CGSS) 2008,this paper describes the status of the age at first marriage of the married people born in the 1980 s.Besides,this paper analyzes the influencing factors of the age at first marriage from six aspects:the household status, the system status, the level of education, the personal income,the household income level and the gender.And finally,this paper finds:Compared with the people born in the1950 s,1960s,1970 s,the age at first marriage of the people born in the 1980 s shows a rising trend.In addition,this paper finds that household status, level of education, gender have a significant impact on the age at first marriage of the people born in the 1980s;but the system status,the personal income,the household income level have no effect on the age at first marriage.The household status has a significant effect on the age at first marriage.The age at first marriage of non-agriculture household residents is higher than the agriculture household residents'.But the influence of household status to the age at first marriage has differences in system status and persona income level.The household status only has a significant effect on the age at first marriage of the workers outside the system and only has a significant effect on the age at first marriage of the people whose income is between 0 to 20000 yuan.Education level has significant influence on the age at first marriage:the higher the education level, the higher the age at first marriage.Firstly,high school or above degree have significant effect on the age at first marriage for the people who has different household status,different gender.But the delayed effect of education on age at first marriage of non-agriculture household residents is greater than the agriculture household residents.The delayed effect of education on age at first marriage of the male is greater than the female.Secondly,for the workers out of the system,every level of education have significant influence on its age at first marriage;but for the workers within the system,university or above degree have significant influence on its age at first marriage;the delayed effect of education on age at first marriage of the workers within system is greater than the worker out of system.Finally,high school or above degree have significant influence on the age at first marriage of the people whose income is between 0 to20000 yuan,between40001-60000yuan;university or above degree have significant influence on the age at first marriage of the people whose income is between 20001 to 40000 yuan.Besides,the delayed effect of education on age at first marriage of high-income earners is greater than low-income people.Gender has a significant effect on the age at first marriage.The age at first marriage of male is higher than female.Specifically,the difference in age at first marriage for men and women of agriculture household people is greater than the non-agriculture household people; the difference in age at first marriage for men and women of the workers out of system is greater than the workers within system;along with the increasing of education level,the difference in age at first marriage for men and women showed a narrowing trend.In addition, the influence of gender to the age at first marriage has differences in education level and personal income level.Gender only has a significant effect on the age at first marriage of the primary school and below,junior high school,university educated people.Gender only has a significant effect on the age at first marriage of the people whose income is between 0 to 20000 yuan.
