The Tang dynasty is known for its open era in Chinese history, with an ancientChinese history last period of peace. Open features of Tang dynasty is not only indiplomatic relations, political system, national policies and other matters, but alsoreflected in the institution of marriage and on the folk custom. This article is no longerconfined to a study of specific phenomena in the institution of marriage in the Tangdynasty. It will start from the conclusion of the institution of marriage in the Tangdynasty and the disarmament, and study on relations between husband and wife inmarriage. In the end, this article will analyze the characteristics of the times of opennessin the institution of marriage in the Tang dynasty. This article combines according tocontext, using analysis from the perspective of sociology to study the rituals and customsof marriage in the Tang dynasty and the characteristics of the times. This body is dividedinto four parts:Chapter I: the conclusion of marriage in the Tang dynasty, including "of parents andthe matchmaker", independent marriage, marriages concluded in the custom features inthe concept of hierarchy and the conclusion of marriages;Chapter II: dissolution of marriage in the Tang dynasty, including the divorcesystem and customs, women ’ deuterogamist according to system and customs;Chapter III: status of husband and wife in marriage in the Tang dynasty, includingmale decency and legal system, improvement of women’s family status in real life and theconcept of chastity’s transition from weak to strong;Chapter IV: the institution of marriage in the Tang dynasty and characteristicanalysis of customs, including the three cardinal guides and the five constant virtues asspecified in the feudal ethical code of ritual and normative constraints on the institutionof marriage, economic development consolidate the centralization of power needs, weakening of the legitimacy of Confucianism and legacy of invasion, Hu Zu legacy ofinvasion, Tang Lvli method combined with protection and Wu Zetian’s impact of power...
