As a paradigm of Marx's analysis on specific political events, ” The 18 th Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte” is a watershed in Marx's scholarly focus shifted from philosophy to economics research, an in-depth study on it can help us to explore the development and change of Marx's viewpoints. Through in-depth analysis of the text, it is not difficult to find that Marx's genius is that his interpretation of political events carries out from the political superstructure and social foundation two perspectives. Meanwhile, as an witnesses of political events,he rethinks the relationship between them. " The 18 th Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte " shows that Marx is both an observer of the changing political situation and a theorist of materialism : First of all, different from contemporary writers of liberalism, Marx inherits Montesquieu's approach of extending the analysis of legal and political to social foundation. In " The 18 th Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte ",Marx lays emphasis on the analysis of the dynamic process of social forces behind the constitutional crisis. Secondly, " The 18 th Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte " represents Marx's reflections on his own historical philosophy beliefs, he was no longer pertaining the legal and political conflict to Class relations and class struggle directly, But emphasizing on the interpretation of the crisis of Constitution of the second Republic itself. Through the observation of the struggle between President and Parliament, he saw the relative independence of the politics. Thus, he changed his understanding of the relationship between social foundation and political superstructure in " The Communist Manifesto ".Except for the introduction and conclusion, this paper is divided into three parts:The first part, by comparing " The 18 th Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte " and "The Communist Manifesto", to explain Marx's two different social classes theory. The second part, by analyzing the text of " The 18 th Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte ", we can see that Marx's describing of the fall of the second French Republic was expanded by using constitutional crisis as the main line. Because of the unclear constitutional provisions on the relationship between president and parliament, the phenomenon of competing for the authority for the interpretation of constitution appeared, and destroy the Constitution ultimately. By comparing by the description of “ Souvenirs de Alexis de Tocqueville “, analyzing how Marx explains this constitutional crisis from the perspective of socialfoundation. The third part, Combining with Weber and Schmitt's contribution to the Constitution of the Weimar Republic and presidential system, contrasting the French Republic with the Weimar Republic on the Constitutional crisis they faced, and analyzing Marx's unique understanding of presidential systems. Combining with the interpretation by scholars such as Gramsci and Nicos poulantzas,to understand Marx's reflections on the relationship between social foundation and political superstructure.
