The Influence Of On The Degree Of Corruption

Since the reform and opening up, after nearly four decades of exploration, the country has achieved in the economic field by leaps and bounds. At the same time, corruption has intensified, a large number of corruption cases and corrupt officials surfaced. Our party holds on corruption "zero tolerance" attitude, adhere to the "punish the flies with Tiger," the strategic plan, has won wide acclaim of the people. It is noteworthy that along with the reform and opening up process, the size of government has been in a state of expansion, both measured from the scale or the financial capacity to mobilize personnel also significantly expand the size of the previous government more open. So what is the relationship between government and the degree of expansion of corruption? Is the size of government exacerbated the level of corruption? Based on this, with Chinese provincial panel data for the study, in-depth to explore the relationship between the size of government and the extent of corruption.The main contents and conclusions are as follows: Through the domestic and international literature review, scholars found between government size and extent of corruption and the relationship between the theory of empirical research, but its conclusions are not consistent. In this paper, after combing the literature, rigorous planning of the route in order to make more reliable conclusions. First, we constructed a microscopic model to explain the effect of other factors and scale of government corruption; and then use 1998-2013 China's provincial panel data to establish the model of relations between the two panels were analyzed and found that the government scale to have a significant negative impact on the level of corruption, instead of expanding the size of government suppressed the spread of corruption. Expand the size of government at this stage not lead to organizational reasons, the high incidence of corruption, and the government's favorable terms of scale, such as enhanced governance capacity, raising the level of public services can effectively curb corruption. Due to non-linear relationship between the two, we use panel threshold model further analyzes its mechanism of action, the results show that research conclusions are sound-based.Innovation of this paper is mainly reflected in the following points:(1) Compared with the domestic causes of corruption in the research literature, adopt a more reasonable level corruption metrics;(2) the size of government and attempts to anti-corruption efforts at the same time these two important factors into the empirical analysis framework;(3) attempts to construct a mathematical model to explain the mechanism of corruption;(4) in the same literature, the first use of panel threshold model for the relationship between government size and empirical analysis of the level of corruption.
