A Study On The Development And Change Of Chinese Economy In Myanmar During The Period Of Military Rule(1962-2010)

During the period of military rule in Myanmar, the development of Chinese economy has some special characteristics. Chinese economic development in the period of military rule is not smooth sailing, but showing a greater volatility. The overall strength of the Chinese economy is also in constant change. At the same time, the degree of integration between Chinese economy and local economy in Myanmar is obviously enhanced. The rapid development of the new immigrant economy has injected new vitality into the development of Chinese economy in Myanmar.This paper tries to summarize the development characteristics of Chinese economy through the related literature and date, and then,through the horizontal and vertical comparison to evaluate the changes of the overall economic strength objectively.On this basis, this paper will further analyze the influence factors of Chinese economic development in Myanmar. Overall, the development of Chinese economy in the period of Myanmar military government can be divided into three stages: First, the stagnation period(1962-1973); second, the timely adjustment period(1973-1988); third, the new development and the new change period(1988-2010). In these three stages, the development trend of the Chinese economy is different, the overall economic strength is also quite different. Therefore, it is necessary to discuss them respectively. The influence factors of Chinese economic development is the focus of this paper. As a group of immigrants in Myanmar, influencing factors ofChinese economic development must be diverse. Specifically,mainly related to military government policy, the Chinese political participation,the development of Myanmar domestic economic and China- Myanmar relations. This paper will use the theory of international relations and economics theory, in order to further analyze the factors which affecting the economic development of the Chinese in Myanmar.
