Before the democratic transition in Myanmar, the development of Myanmar-India relations went through three stages: intimacy, trough and mitigation.India's policy toward Myanmar has also undergone a process of adjustment from “idealism” to “realism”.After the democratic transition in Myanmar, the Myanmar-India relationship was rapidly promoted under the active guidance of the two governments.Myanmar needs to use the strength of India to promote a "balance" policy, and India needs Myanmar's cooperation to increase regional influence,India needs Myanmar's cooperation to increase regional influence. The development and changes of the Myanmar-India relationship are embodied in the cooperation between the two countries in the fields of politics, economy, security and culture,The bilateral cooperation has closely linked the political ties between the two countries and has promoted the economic development of the two countries, which is conducive to the security and stability of the two countries. It has improved the national image of Myanmar and enhanced the presence of India in Myanmar. The transformation of democracy in Myanmar has brought not only opportunities but also challenges to Myanmar-India relations. The new Myanmar government seeks to maintain a balance between the world's major powers, and India's influence on Myanmar is limited. On the political level,Myanmar has taken the initiative to improve its relations with Western countries and to avoid India's political influence on Myanmar being too strong; On the economic level,Myanmar is actively introducing European and American capital, and India's economic status in Myanmar is challenged; At the security level,Myanmar and India face a common threat in the field of non-traditional security. In addition,Myanmar ' s political situation is more special, domestic contradictions are more complicated, and India's formulation of a policy toward Myanmar needs to be thoughtful.Myanmar and India are important neighbors of China, and the development of Myanmar-India relations has an impact on China. One of the goals of Myanmar's development of Myanmar-India relations is to change the situation that the former military government is too dependent on China. The new government hopes to use the strength of India to drive Myanmar's economic development and diversify its economic development. At the same time, the competition between China and India in Myanmar is not a “zero-sum game”.China's “One Belt,One Road” plan and India's “eastward policy” are inseparable from each other's participation. In addition, the three countries of China,Myanmar and India also share common interests in border trade and crimes against non-traditional security, and have the basis for cooperation.China can actively strengthen communication with Myanmar and India, especially the elimination of mutual distrust between China and India, and establish a mechanism for exchanges and cooperation between China,Myanmar and India to promote regional development.
