According to basic principals of Marxist historical materialism,Communist Party of China always values the enormous impact of the masses in social and historical development.Since the 18 th CPC National Congress,the new central leadership with Xi Jinping as General Secretary has carried out a one-year education practice of the mass line,which makes the related areas of the education about the mass line become the focus of academic research.The mass line is the fundamental work line of CPC and the scientific approach of leading and uniting the masses.Whether the party members and cadres have the mass viewpoint of Marxism relates to the consolidation of the Party’s ruling status,the smooth development of the cause of the state,and the people’s fundamental interests.The Communist Party of China attaches great importance to the mass line education for party members and cadres in history.Through the study of the history of the mass line education of CPC,it is not hard to find that when the mass line education activity achieved significant results,the party-mass relation,the relation between the masses,the civil-military relation,and the relation between the officers and soldiers are also in a good state.In this period the party and the state achieved successes.Otherwise,the party corruption happened and party members and cadres separated from the masses of the people seriously,in which time the party and the state suffered from a serious setback.In the periods when the mass line education has obtained significant effect,many good education methods are created.The good or bad education effect of the mass line of different historical periods has intimate relationship with the education method of that period.According to the theory of pedagogy,it is known that in the given situation of education content,education environment,education object,etc.the selection,use and innovation of education method has become the key factor to the success of the education activities.Therefore,in order to carry out party the mass line education activities better in the new period,it is necessary to review,analysis,summarize and inherit the traditional way of the mass line education,on which basis the education method is innovated.Studying the traditional way of the mass line education,in the first place,can enrich the party’s ideological and political education method system and add the foundational theory for the party’s ideological and political education.By classifying,inducing and summarizing the traditional way of the mass line education in history,it pinpoints the mass line education method’s development history,enriches the method theory of the mass line education,and at the same time,enriches the party’s ideological and political education method system,which ensure the scientific nature of the party’s ideological and political education theory.In the second place,it contributes to the innovation of education method of the mass line.All of the innovative education methods are based on the traditional ones.Therefore,analyzing the traditional way of the mass line education provides the historical basis for the innovation of the mass line education method.In the third place,it helps to implement the mass line of the education content through the scientific method in a better way and to achieve the expected education aim in order to improve the effectiveness of the mass line education.Finally,it ensures that the mass line education method is scientific and makes the mass line education conform to the objective laws,which ensure the durability of the effect of the mass line education.In short,the research of the traditional method of mass line education has relatively strong theoretical value and practical value.On the basis of reviewing the existing literature,this research mainly adopts literature analysis,concept analysis,historical research,and value analysis to analyze the traditional way of mass line education,which is divided into four parts.The first part is about the definitions of traditional methods of the mass line education nature.This section is necessary theoretical preparations for the whole research.Firstly,it needs to differentiate the concepts of “traditional” and “modern”.Different from the modern,academia does not define the period of tradition.The tradition is a period of modern at a certain time in the past and the modern will be a period of tradition in the future.The concept of traditional and modern is relative rather than absolutely different.The standards of dividing the two are by no means the only and different understanding,due to different disciplines background,is possible.Secondly,it discusses concepts related to the subject,which is the distinction between the traditional education and modern education.Starting from the meaning of traditional education and modern education,it compares the two from aspects of time and nature.However,traditional education and modern education cannot be divided according to time order simply.In a sense,although they have similarities,they are not identical,which indicates a dialectical relationship.Finally,it discusses the principles and signs that divide the traditional methods of mass line education.At present,academics have not define the traditional methods of mass line education specifically,but they define the working method of the mass line.The essential difference between them lies in that the former focused on the effect and influence on the whole education system and,in particular,educates in the process of education,while the latter stresses stipulating and indicating the goals,direction and methods in the process of practical work.But there is an inherent and close logic relation between them.Therefore,we can use the definition of traditional working method of the mass line to define the traditional methods of mass line education,which is to divide the traditional mass line education methods and the modern ones according to the historical node of the reform and opening-up policy.In this study,the traditional mass line education methods refer to the approaches that the party uses to maintain close contact with the masses,unite the masses and educate the party members in the period from the Agrarian Revolutionary War to the reform and opening-up policy.The second part is about on the historical investigation of the traditional methods of mass line education.Combined with the definition in the first part,it analyses and concludes the methods of mass line education in the period from the time when the concept was first mentioned to the reform and opening-up policy,which includes the methods of establishing a new system of discipline education,of learning from the masses and practice,of “three check” and “three rectification”,of “complaints”,of the masses working method training education,of the ideological remolding,of “opening the door and rectification”,of “Wu Tong”,of the slogan education.The third part is about the dialectical analysis of the traditional way of the mass line education.This part mainly analyses the traditional methods summarized in the second part in a dialectical way.Firstly,the essence of the traditional methods of the mass line education contains that maintaining the instinctive quality of the working class,cultivating class feelings with the laboring masses,realizing the personality equality with working masses.Secondly,the traditional methods of mass line education have its historical limitations,which shows in two aspects.On the one hand,because missions of the mass line education in various periods are different and education objects are different,the traditional way of the mass line education is history conditioned.On the other hand,it has the problem of simple and formalized in the process of the specific use of traditional methods,which shows that traditional methods have its own scientific deficiencies.Therefore,we should view the traditional methods of mass line education dialectically and scientifically.The fourth part is about the value of the traditional methods of mass line education.This part expounds its historical value and practical value.At first,its historical value is embodied in strengthening and improving the party’s working style construction and also consolidating the party-mass relation as well as cadres-masses relation constantly.Besides,it helps us to understand historical information related to the mass line education.Secondly,combining with the situation of the party,the state and the world in the new period,the practical value of the traditional methods of mass line education can be illustrated from direction of methodology,enlightenment of innovative methods,the use of the traditional method for scientific reference,and the feasibility of the traditional methods.
