Study Of The Chinese Rural Women's Suffrage

The investigation of rural women's participation in Xuancheng city of Anhui province indicates such problems as rural women's weak participation consciousness,low level of participation,unsmooth way of participation,and inefficient participation and so on.Many scholars analysis about the reasons affecting China's rural women's participation in politics,for example,some scholars regard the major reason to be the restraint of the conventional culture,rural women's low cultural level,unspecific legal regulations and poor economic foundation.Other scholars have also analyzed from the perspectives of political power structure and gender division of labor theory and made some results,yet still on the surface of the problem.This paper uncovers the ultimate cause affecting rural women's participation in politics lies in dominant power system with the center of the patriarchal culture in the patriarchal society.To eliminate the dominant power system,on the one hand form the external cause should eliminate the system live in cultural,social,political and legal soil,On the other hand from the internal cause to raise the comprehensive quality of rural women and to raise the level of their participation.Specifically,one is to break the male is superior to female culture consciousness,and to realize the goal of gender mainstreaming.The second is to eliminate the patriarchal culture of the social foundation,reforming the political power structure.The third is to formulate women's special protection law,clearly set to minimum proportion system for women's suffrage.The last is to improve the overall quality of rural women,and to enhance the ability to participate politics.
