The police are responsible for the fight against crime and the protection of the people.With the development of society and the progress of science and technology,a varieties of new characteristics have emerged in modern crimes.What's more,with the development of the rule of law,the public supervision system is being improved.Therefore,the police face tougher challenges in the public security work and thus bear greater pressure than other occupations.Powerful pressure results in the stress reaction both physically and psychologically among the policemen,which may weaken their work efficiency.Consequently,it is worthwhile to help the policemen get a scientific knowledge of their occupational stress and the effective measures of relieving it.This thesis is aimed at introducing this knowledge and discussing on how to increase the job satisfaction of the police.This study attempts to inquire into the following three issues.Firstly,how much pressure are the policemen in Nanchang bearing and how satisfied are they with their current work? Secondly,does their occupational stress have something to do with their job satisfaction? If so,how much influence has their occupational stress exerted on their job satisfaction.Thirdly,what measures can be taken to relieve the stress and to increase the satisfaction?This study first conducted a literature review and research review of occupation stress and job satisfaction,the occupation pressure significantly affect job satisfaction,and job satisfaction can predict the level of assumptions,and then using the method of questionnaire survey,the Nanchang City Public Security Bureau West Lake police service as an example,the use of police occupation stress scale and Minnesota job satisfaction questionnaire,and using statistical software SPSS statistical data and analysis of the questionnaire,to explore the relationship between the Nanchang city police occupation stress and job satisfaction.Through the statistical analysis of the data obtained from 113 valid questionnaires,the following conclusions are obtained:Nanchang police work pressure is of medium high,job satisfaction is moderately low.The Nanchang city police work pressure and satisfaction are different in different attribute,including gender,age,educational level,marital status,education,work experience,work position,rank,position and other aspects.Overall,the work pressure of the police in Nanchang city was significantly negatively correlated with job satisfaction,that is,the greater the job stress,the lower job satisfaction.In view of the above conclusions,this paper puts forward some countermeasures and suggestions to reduce the pressure of urban traffic police work,and to improve job satisfaction: First,the establishment of multi-party participation in the work of the police decompression mechanism.Second,to create a favorable environment for social law enforcement.Third,do a good job in the police personal career management.Fourth,improve the level of organization and management.
