Pakistan Baloch Nationalist Organizations' Cognition Of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor

With the upgrade of China's national strategy of "One Belt One Road",its flagship project,China-Pakistan Economic Corridor's strategic importance is increasing.The security situation in Pakistan,particularly in Baloch where the key project Gwadar Port is located,might have a great impact on the smooth implementation of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.The security situation in Baloch is not optimistic because of the Baloch nationalist movement.China-Pakistan Economic Corridor has aroused the concern of the Baloch nationalist organizations.It's of importance and necessity to explore Pakistan Baloch nationalist organizations' cognition of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.Based on different positions,different factions of organizations of Baloch nationalist movement have different cognition and attitude to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.In general,the concern of Baloch's moderate political parties is whether the results of the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor will benefit Baloch people.Baloch's radical armed organizations believe that Pakistan-China Economic Corridor is detrimental to Baloch's interests.Baloch is with lack of energy and electricity,backward traffic and social development.The projects of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor produce and provide more electricity to ease Baloch's energy crisis,build and upgrade transport networks to improve its traffic infrastructure,implement livelihood projects to promote social development.The economic and social benefit effects of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor on Baloch,are different from Baloch nationalist organizations' cognition of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.There are three main reasons for this cognitive difference.From the perspective of identity and cognition,Baloch people lacked the cultural and historical basis of the national identity of Pakistan.The political structure of the Pakistan's federal government together with accumulation of conflicts and contradictions strengthen Baloch people's negative perception of the central government.From the perspective of economic interests,the Pakistan federal government's development policy also has a lot of inappropriate,which leads to Baloch people's deprived sense.From the political and security point of view,Baloch nationalist organizations are concerned that,corridor projects have seriously challenged Baloch's autonomy and Pakistan government will strengthen military control of the region.In order to provide a safe implementation environment for China-Pakistan Economic Corridor,it is necessary to ensure that the projects truly benefit Baloch people,and take practical measures to eliminate Baloch people's dissatisfaction,concern and opposition.
