Japanese Economic And Diplomatic Strategy Towards Countries In Mekong River Region Since World War 2

After the Second World War,as a defeated country,Japan,the political economy is deeply hit.In order to get rid of the second post-war disadvantage,return to the international community,to become "normal country",Japan employed economic Diplomacy strategy and successfully opened the South-East Asia Gate,embarked on the restoration of economic development,the pursuit Southeast Asia because of its strategic location.Since ancient times,Southeast Asia is an important area of Japan's foreign exchanges,the five countries in the Mekong region are the engine of regional development.After the end of the cold war,with the increase of strategic position in the Mekong region,countries scramble to intensify development efforts in the region,especially with the gradual increase of China's influence in this region,compressing Japan's strategic space.In this situation,Japan has stepped up its official development assistance to the Mekong region,deepened political and economic exchanges with the five countries of the Mekong region,and established a series of cooperative mechanisms to implement the Mekong regional economic Diplomacy strategy,attempting to enhance the influence of the region and compete for regional leaders.This paper,from macroscopic to microcosmic,from comprehensive to concrete exposition of Japan's economic diplomacy strategy for the countries of the Mekong region,obtains the diplomatic situation of Japan through the use of economic diplomacy,and the main means of official development assistance from the face to the point of opening.From the macro-regional mechanism,to the "Country development plan" for different countries,the official development assistance of Japan and the countries of the Mekong region hasgradually shifted the economic transition to political,cultural,humanities and other fields.Moreover,it can obtain economic benefits for Japan,so as to achieve the political power goals.
