The Theory Of World Citizenship And Its Contemporary Value

Based on the re-understanding of classical political philosophy about thinking of human characteristics,the paper proposes the value,legitimacy and feasibility of global citizenship theory,analyzing of the concept of rights and justice brought about by the theory of global citizenship,and deliberating the requirements and approaches for Chinese citizens to participate in global affairs,according to the current world organization and the combination of Chinese traditional thought and cosmopolitanism.The first part carding the cosmopolitanism theory and its social roots,which is the origin of global citizenship theory,distinguishing the different stages of the development of the western concept of cosmopolitanism from the perspective of the concept of cosmopolitanism.It comes to the conclusion that cosmopolitan ideal always occupies a place in the development of human history and has its great significance in the current trend of globalization.In addition,this paper discovers the prototype theory of global citizenship,global citizen society,world government,and the law of peoples in the development context of cosmopolitanism theory.Also,it makes a distinction between the ancient and the modern of cosmopolitan practice,which gives advantages to the understanding of the difference between the ancient world and the modern world in the following paper below.The second part is the main body and core of the paper.This part focuses on the content of global citizenship theory,including the global citizenship in the micro sense and the global civil society in the macro sense.The paper emphasis on Arendt's reproduction of the ideal of classical political philosophy,and making clear the difference of the "politics" in the ancient context and the modern context.The understanding of politics in classical political philosophy is public and moral orientation,while in the modern sense is private and utilitarian orientation.The political character of the people of the ancient western thinkers is the condition for the people to have a good life.The paper presents a critique of the economic factors that are the important content of political affairs,which destroy the human political life and public sphere,so as to explore the significance and feasibility of the world citizens and the formation of the world civil society.On the practical part of the global citizenship,this paper distinguishes the political practice and value practice of global citizenship,and taking it as a value practice according to the understanding of classical political philosophy.The third part includes the contents of chapter third to chapter fifth,mainly analyzing the influence and challenge of the world citizenship theory,and putting forward two aspects of the program to how to realize the theory of world citizenship in the context of globalization.One is to construct the community and public space in the world,and the other is to realize the world citizenship education.Finally,this paper discusses the applicability of the theory from the west to china by analyzing the Confucianism of "Tian Xia" thought in ancient China.
