On Giddens' Ideology Theory

Anthony Giddens has been known as the most famous sociologist and political thinker in local England since Comte,Spencer.and as a vital thinker who enjoys great fame globally.Giddens is a scholar who began to come into sight for Chinese scholars,studied prosperous,but now seem to become a period piece.Is there any value and significance in study his ideas.The paper has a research on the ideology,which hold that his thoughts also have idiographic charms.Its uniqueness shows in respectively: as a methodology----structuration theory is a new-type ideology in post-tradition society;Giddens was a sociologist who advocated indagating time and space in earlier time,in his opinion,these were concealed ways of the integration of capitalist ideology in the era of globalization.This article has five chapters.On the basis of poring over documents and materials at home and abroad.Chapter one raises two clues on study Giddens ' ideology:obvious clue and unobvious one,the former refers to the fact that his political standpoint is not as “vague” or “neotral” as theoretical position,but to put forward centre-left political ideology explicitly.the latter refers to the fact that he emphasis on individual and social reflective when he discusses and analyzes problems in the book,but he does not analyze them systematically.Chapter two is the important part in the article.Giddens applied the methodology of structuration theory to reflect bias on study ideology deeply in the past.he objected to structuralism and humanism about ideology,and then read it in duality of structure.Meanwhile he explored the relationship between the dynamic mechanism of time,space and ideology,in his view,time and space should not be regarded as background of social problem research,they has been moved from behind the scenes to the stage,and they promote ideology production and re-production in a broader sphere.Chapter three studys on the social settings of Giddens ' ideology,which is called“post-tradition society” in the paper.The concept of post-tradition society is an important hub of Giddens turning point in the whole idea,and bridge the research structurationtheory and realistic question.Afterwards,Giddens analyzed nationalism,radical ideology and the third way specifically.Chapter four is grounded in the standpoint of marxism,which evaluates Giddens' ideology from three dimensions of spirits,violence,economy.Because the individual and the society is reflective,it seem to be able to explain its role in the resolution of ideology.but to some degree,more to prove the role of ideology in the back;Ideology and violence complement each other to jointly safeguard social stability.But the mainstream ideology itself conceals a factor of violence;The scientific of ideology does not lie in the critique of ideology,but in the dynamic determinism of economic base.The fifth chapter is the conclusion.The author thinks positively of the uniqueness of Giddens' ideology,He does not let ideology lay in the quicksand,but at risk all the time,which prompts us to think about the balance of ideology and practice more deeper.But also points out that Giddens' s ideology in the more subtle conservative.The production and reproduction of ideology has the characteristics of cycle,the individual action that based on reflective,which is just adapting to the society but not dare to transform it,Thus providing the basis for maintaining the status quo fundamentally.
