A Study On The Institutional Dimensions Of Giddens' Modernity Theory

"Modernity" has always been one of the topics of long-term discussion in Chinese and Western academic circles.The issue of modernity is a highly complex issue.Today,the issue of modernity still has inextricably linked with all aspects of human society.As a famous British sociologist,political scientist,philosopher and one of the representative figures of the 21 st century thinkers,Giddens put forward the originality of modernity thought after extensively combing the classical modernity thought.The institutional dimension and systematic reflection on the consequences of modernity have had far-reaching and wide-ranging implications in academia.This thesis aims to explore the inheritance and development of Giddens' modernity thought through a brief review of Giddens' modernity thoughts,and focus on the four institutional dimensions of Giddens' modernity thought and its internal relations,intention to explore the practical significance of its modernity thought in today's society.This article starts with Giddens' s inheritance and combing of classical modernity thoughts,and starts from the social background of Giddens,comprehensively expounds Giddens' modernity theory,and tries to carry out Giddens' s modernity theory beyond the analysis and evaluation of the pure Marxist perspective.This article is roughly divided into the following parts: Firstly,it explores the etymology of modernity,analyzes the different understandings and definitions of modernity by each thinker,and then explores Giddens' inheritance and development of classical modernity theory,the characteristics and dynamic mechanism of Giddens' modernity thought,in order to grasp the ins and outs of Giddens' modern thinking.Secondly,with the national-national as the main line,the four basic institutional dimensions of Giddens' modernity are explored in detail: capitalism,industrialism,military power and monitoring system,and the interaction between the four.Finally,it explores the development and evolution of the dimension of modernity system under the influence of globalization,as well as the crisis facing modernity and the reflection of Giddens.Based on the modernity thought as the starting point and core,Giddens proposed an innovative modern system dimension,which is also of great significance in today's society.
