Though China's economy has a rapid development since the reform and opening up. Today the material conditions are thriving, but the environmental pollution and resource depletion caused by the environmental crisis are also becoming increasingly prominent.People gradually realize the importance of environmental protection and sustainable development.As the core of economy, finance has great influence on the development of other fields.Green credit is an economic policy tool which is formed by the combination of finance and environment.Simple to say, green credit policy means that banks and other financial institutions to provide priority credit support for energy-saving projects and low interest rates, while controlling the pollution of the environment project loan support. The implementation of green credit policy can be adjusted from the source of funds to achieve the green allocation of funds, and thus promote the industrial structure of enterprises, and ultimately achieve the purpose of environmental protection.There is no doubt that the implementation of green credit policy.However, banks and other financial institutions are in pursuit of profit for the ultimate goal, they tend to pursue short-term benefits and regardless of environmental pollution, and therefore will not be aware of the strict implementation of green credit policy.So the purpose of this paper is to discuss the necessity of the supervision on green credit, and how to regulate the credit activities of financial institutions.Specifically, this paper is divided into five parts:the first part mainly analyzes the definition of green credit and the necessity of supervision on it.The second part mainly introduces the practice of green credit policy in China, including laws and policies of China's green credit,practice of green credit in China's commercial banks,and The shortcomings of China's green credit.The third part describes the experience of foreign green credit and the enlightenment and mainly introduces a more successful implementation of the United States, Japan, Germany and the Equator Principles,which is the standard of financing for the world's financial institutions.The fourth part is also a key part of this article,putting forward the suggestions on the contruction of the supervisory legal system of green credit in China,which includes the establishment of regulatory body, regulatory approach, scope, specific process management, and legal responsibility setting, supporting the public surveillance system.Only by the mandatory and authority of the law, can we determine the regulatory system of the green credit, in order to urge financial institutions to strictly implement the green credit policy, and ultimately achieveing the purpose of protection environment of green credit.
