John Rawls' A Theory of Justice motivated Allen Buchanan to have a research on justice, thus Buchanan reconstructed Marx's concepts of justice.Just as Allen Wood,Buchanan considers that Marx have criticized the concepts of justice. However,Buchanan disagrees with Wood's conclusion that capitalism is by no means injustice.Buchanan's opinion is that Marx has criticized capitalism as injustice. This thesis comprises 3 parts:The first chapter is about Buchanan's reconstruction of the source and attitude of Marx' s concepts of justice as well as the angel and standard that Marx uses to criticize capitalism, which are not from capitalist juridical rights or another kinds of juridical rights;the second chapter is about Buchanan's reconstruction of Marx's more radical critique and his critique towards capitalism's concepts of justice;the third chapter is about my comprehensive comments on Buchanan's reconstruction of Marx's concepts of justice. The conclusions of this thesis are as follows:Based on Buchanan's reconstruction of Marx's concepts of justice,Marx's radical attitude towards justice comes from Hegel's concepts of justice,Marx's angel and standard are socialism rather than capitalist juridical rights or any kinds of juridical rights;Marx would never say that capitalism is just, especially for distributive justice,;historical materialism is the main and basic reason for Marx to give a conclusion that socialism will replace capitalism;Buchanan's reconstruction may weaken historical materialism, but still I think what he has done can invigorate Marxism and help socialists to get their voice heard in this ever changing world.
