Research On T.H.Marshall's Citizenship Theory

"Citizenship" as the basic concept of the political theory,at the core of the concept of various political position,its history and politics,the study of citizenship the earliest can be traced back to two thousand years ago the ancient Greek thinkers of the past,but true to the best of its development is famous British sociologist T.H.Marshall.Marshall explicitly puts forward the concept of citizenship,and for citizenship test by using the method of historical analysis.And it can be divided into three elements,thus forming the basic framework of citizenship research.Marshall thinks the citizenship is a kind of equal status,which for the development of capitalism of the inequality of social class structure play an important role.And he thinks that constructing the welfare state is the solving measures that how to implement citizenship and promote social steady development.In his opinion,the welfare state is the way of coordinate equality and class differentiation,as well as the guarantee for citizenship rights realization.The author from the background of Marshall's citizenship theory,based on its content,characteristics,analysis the citizenship theory value and defect.This paper will be divided into five parts: the first part is the introduction part,the focus of this thesis research status at domestic and abroad,basic content,theory meaning and realistic meaning,research methods,innovation and disadvantages.The second part mainly analyzes the thoughts origin of citizenship.He analyzes the Alfred Marshall for citizenship and the beveridge report and other related bills creative citizenship new research paradigm,so the author analyzes the thoughts origin of citizenship theory from the two aspects.The third part mainly discussed the content of the theory of citizenship:including three rights elements and contains the Marshall theory of welfare thought.The fourth part is that Marshall descriptions of citizenship evolution.Marshall citizenship can be divided into three types of rights: civil rights,political rights,social rights,separately discusses the three rights are what time and how to be incorporated in the framework of citizenship theory.The fifth part is the analysis of the theory.Theauthor mainly expounds the value of Marshall's citizenship includes theoretical value and practical value and the defect of the theory.But even though there are many shortage,won't affect the value of his theory of social reality.His theory as the basis of political practice also has very strong realistic concern.It has reference significance for China's public policy.
